This little girl popped into my Facebook feed this morning - two years ago today, MudLynn got a clean bill of health after having a malignant mass removed from her back. She'll be 14 this summer and means the world to us.
In my review of the charity applications that came in the mail, I found two that feature pets and I'm sharing them with you today.
Dogs on Deployment provides a central nationwide network for military members to find volunteers willing to board their pets while they are deployed or have other service commitments. The organization provides financial assistance for the care and treatment of the pets, and they distribute educational materials at a variety of venues in an effort to recruit more foster home volunteers. If you love animals, you could make a huge difference in someone's life. Imagine receiving orders to the Middle or Far East for a year and having the peace of mind knowing that your pet will be loved and cared for while you are gone.
Pets for Patriots helps U.S. military veterans and their families adopt a new pet friend while giving the most overlooked, undervalued shelter dogs and cats hope and a home. Generous donations enable the organization to fully fund veteran-pet adoptions which includes pre-adoption counseling, a generous contribution towards "welcome home" pet food and other essentials, and post-adoption follow-up for one year.
I encourage you to check out these organizations and see the amazing work they are doing and give generously if you are able.
I had not heard of either of those, and they are both very worthy. I think I'll talk to hubs about Dogs on Deployment. We live near 'Military City."
