In January we'll talk about what we're currently loving, doing to stay warm, resolving, organizing, and wearing.
Loving - the whole festive season.
My tree was still up, the house was somewhat still decorated, and the Christmas cards were strung above the morning room doorway. (I wrote this post when I thought it was going up on January 1 but it was postponed to January 8).
I'm waiting for one or two cards from Canada as their postal strike delayed things there. I'm so thankful for my Christmas group and the exchange we have every year and that I still have family and friends who send cards.
Doing to Stay Warm - I left the thermostat to go off at 6:00am (when I used to leave for work) and to come on again at 4:00pm so the house was warm when I got home, and I wish I could keep it that way (aren't utility bills getting outrageous?), but I find myself switching it on about 2:00pm because it has been SO cold. I drink a lot of hot coffee during the day and am making full use of my cozy sweaters.
Resolving - to be better organized in 2025. Maybe I need to use the timer system - 30 minutes for computer check-in, 30 minutes for this, 30 minutes for that.
I tend to sit down to check the e-mail and before I know it, it's 11:00am! I also want to get on a regular schedule of downloading the photos from my phone and labeling them as well as making sure that I take photos each day which I'm really bad about doing.
Organizing - the Christmas decor when I put it away, cabinets, closets, craft supplies, everywhere needs a good once over, and as I said above, organizing my time better.
Wearing - jeans and a cozy sweater, pretty much every day.
I bought some lighter festive shirts which I enjoyed wearing this holiday season. I have this grey one above, a black one that has a candy cane heart, and a red one that has JOY with a wreath for the O. They are all from Woman Within.
Join us on the first Wednesday of February for Currently.
We tend to turn our thermostat off during the day and use our woodstove to heat the house (though I prefer to hang out in our finished basement where the woodstove is since it's warmest down there!). I find that being on the computer tend to make time fly by too and I'm trying to get better about putting it aside and getting up to go DO something.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying something similar with the timers, in making sure I get up to do something every hour. Sometimes I miss it though!
ReplyDeleteI miss the Christmas decorations. Your tree was so pretty. I hope your cards from Canada arrived.
ReplyDeleteThe heating is so expensive, even here. I try not to put the heating on when I'm the only one in but I gave in today and had it on for half an hour, it is so cold.
Using a timer system sounds like a good idea for getting things done. I lost so much time by just popping online for something and before I know it an hour has passed.
We have never tried turning the heat off...oh my. You are a brave soul. I think those festive shirts are cute. I would keep right on wearing them in January:) Festive is always fun! Happiest new year wishes to you -
