It's the first Thursday of the month and that's time for Share Your Shelf hosted by
Jennifer at My Joyful Life
I only managed one book in the month of December, and it was grueling. I really wanted to close it and mark it a DNF, but I persevered, and it ended up as number 29 on my list of books read in 2024.
My goal was 24 books so 29 is a respectable total.
No surprise that my top genre was historical fiction, followed by fiction and romance.
I've read a couple of books by Jenny Colgan but do find that they can be hit or miss from me. Some of them have seemed quite boring and slow paced while I have enjoyed others.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'd have to agree with that.
DeleteI have to admit that I'm not a fan of holiday themed books!
ReplyDeleteUsually, they are a quick and easy read, but this one went on and on and seemed to be going nowhere.
DeleteI tend not to read the holiday themed books. I have so many other books on my list that I'll probably never get to so I just carry on with my usual in December.
ReplyDeleteMy list is never-ending too but I can't resist a quick and easy holiday read. Sadly, this one was not it!
DeleteI also tend to avoid (or at a minimum don't seek them out) holiday books. Sorry that you had to force yourself to finish it!
ReplyDeleteI read a lot of holiday books; it's the Christmas-lover in me which is why I was so disappointed. I've read a couple of her books and they've been great, but this one, not at all.
DeleteI started that book and didn't finish it this month. I was hopeful, but it just didn't work out.
ReplyDeleteIt was a dud, for sure.
DeleteI don't seek out holiday-themed books, but if one is part of a series I'm reading, I will read for sure.
ReplyDeleteI read one once by a very popular author. It was so bad, that I suspected that he had someone else write it for him. :)
I suppose that's a possibility.
