The weather:::
Rain, rain, rain, that's winter in Washington although it looks like we're getting a little relief this coming week.
On my reading pile:::
On my TV:::
Still working our way through the Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas movies. Outlander on Friday nights. The Great British Baking Show - Holidays (Series 7) Christmas and New Year's episodes.
Started Lockerbie and looking forward to The Day of the Jackal now that I know it's on Peacock.
Checked off the list:::
- Most of the Christmas decorations are down. I will never buy a fresh garland again, what a mess!
- Vic was supposed to work (at work) through the weekend, but he came home sick on Saturday. He's still feeling pretty grim, so we'll see what this coming week holds for him.
- Work Injury Clinic appointment today, when is this ever going to end?
- I can't lift and carry a 50-pound bag of dog food myself and Vic was working so I placed an order online for curbside pick-up and the Petsmart cashier carried it right to my car. Why haven't I thought of this before?
Crafts roundup:::
December Daily 2024 is done except for the last page which was a "by the numbers" feature of Christmas cards sent and received. I'm still waiting for a couple of Canada cards from my Christmas group card exchange. Looking forward to getting all of the cards in the Christmas 2024 album which will also have a Hallmark Channel Christmas Cruise feature. I'll give you a teaser and I'll cover it all on Friday.
And in other news:::
Malone ate two raw chocolate croissants that he pulled off the counter, so we skipped the New Year's Swedish pancake breakfast to keep an eye on him. What a rascal! Lots of snow in the eastern and Midwest United States as well as in the UK. We have one day in January that has a snowflake in the forecast, so we'll see. Our worst winter weather has historically come in February.
I'd love to be here in the winter snow - this is Painswick in Gloucestershire in the Cotswolds. Photo from the Beautiful Britain Facebook page.
Although the Prime Purchases link party sponsored by Tanya at The Other Side of the Road has ended, I thought I'd continue to feature something or a few things from Amazon on the first Monday of each month.
Vic loves his new jacket for work. He saw it at Lowe's but when I went online to order it for pick-up, they were out of stock. Amazon to the rescue.
A lid for the cast iron wok.
And a new reading challenge for 2025 - Historical Fiction. You can sign up here.
My husband and oldest son love their Carhartt jackets too! Your Christmas album sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteI love to go back in older albums and see how family and friends have grown and the changes in their lives.
DeleteI hope Vic starts to feel better soon! And hopefully Malone was ok? That must have been scary (but I'll bet he loved those croissants!) The picture from the Cotswolds is so pretty! It's pretty now, here, too with our snow but not like that!
ReplyDeleteYes, Malone is fine, thank you. How much snow did you get?
DeleteWe have had a lot of rain too with a little sprinkling of snow which was washed away by more rain.
ReplyDeleteOh! I need to watch Lockerbie. I remember it when it happened. I've just looked and it's on our Sky TV.
I hope Vic is feeling better soon and the appointment goes well today.
Glad to hear you're not snowed under. I remember when Lockerbie happened as well; my parents had just arrived in California from the UK. Such a tragedy.
DeleteLockerbie is next on our to-watch list. Thanks for posting the jacket - my son would love that. And the lid for the lodge pan is something I'll take a look at. Hope you have a good week and that Vic feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteI thought the lid we bought was the largest (it's 12 inches and our wok is 14) but I see there is a 15-inch as well. Not sure if it's better to have one slightly smaller or one an inch larger?
DeleteNo gorgeous snow here, but we were slightly below freezing this morning. I'll take it!
ReplyDeleteWe had just one day with a snowflake in the forecast when I wrote this post, now there are eight days!
