Monthly Goals - September 2019

It's time for the monthly update on goals - some were successful, one not so much.

1.  Lose five pounds - FAIL, moving right along...

2.  Read for at least thirty minutes each day.  Dedicate the same time slot each day as much as possible.  Reading on the bus ride home is doable - SUCCESS, read one new book, halfway through the re-read of an old favorite as well as the new one I'm currently working on.  This was the one I finished and it was excellent!

3.  Blog every day Monday through Saturday - I'll call this a SUCCESS as I blogged 18 out of the 26 Monday through Saturdays in August.

4.  Take at least one photo each day - still working on this one.  I seem to have quite a few photos taken in August but I'm not sure it was one a day.

5.  Unpack at least three totes each week and be RUTHLESS in deciding what stays and what goes  - SUCCESS.  The autumn decor was a great example, four totes came in the house and three were decluttered.  My decorating style has changed and I found that I was hanging on to things just for the sake of hanging on to them - don't ever plan to use them again so out they go.  Sophia claimed some items and others went to the consignment shop or Goodwill.  Still working my way through this - charity shop truck will be here next week to pick up excess furniture and then I'll be able to get to the shelving units that have more stuff to go through.  RUTHLESS is the name of the game.

It really was!  I'm keeping the same goals for this month but modifying the blogging to Monday through Friday.

Monthly Goals - August 2019

I haven't done a monthly goals post in over a year so I'm dedicating the first Saturday of each month to setting some goals.  They are pretty much the same goals I had last year, I just need to work a little harder to accomplish them consistently.

1.  Lose five pounds.

2.  Read for at least thirty minutes each day.  Dedicate the same time slot each day as much as possible.  Reading on the bus ride home is doable.

3.  Blog every day Monday through Saturday.

4.  Take at least one photo each day.

5.  Unpack at least three totes each week and be RUTHLESS in deciding what stays and what goes.  If we don't plan to use it, don't need it, there's not much point taking up closet space storing it.  Sure there are some things that I just can't bear to part with for sentimental reasons, but I have to be reasonable about how many of these things I keep.  I lived without most of our things for over six months and was embracing the minimalist lifestyle, now I need to continue in that mindset.

I said to Vic, "This house is too small", but on second thought I said, "This house is the perfect size, we just have TOO.MUCH.STUFF".

Next month I hope to say:

Monthly Goals - June 2018

May was a pretty good month:

➤ Lose five pounds.  Lost four - it's a step in the right direction.
➤ Read for at least thirty minutes each day.  I did this most days - it would work better if I picked a dedicated time so I'll try that next month.
➤ Blog every day Monday through Saturday.  Success!
➤ Take at least one photo every day.  Fail, need to work on this.
➤  Sort and inventory one box each day.  Success!

Moving on to June:

➤ Lose five pounds.
➤ Read for at least thirty minutes each day.  Dedicate the same time slot each day.
➤ Blog every day Monday through Saturday.
➤ Take at least one photo every day.
➤  Sort and inventory one shelf in the room that I'm using as an overflow kitchen/pantry.  Lots of dishes, baking supplies, and serving dishes in there, really need to get a handle on what I have.

See you in July!

Monthly Goals - May 2018

I was inspired by Caroline (Mrs. M)'s You Tube video to get back on the goals bandwagon.  I haven't done a monthly goals post since July 2017 and I really need to set some goals.  I went searching for some artwork (future goal:  use Photoshop Elements to make my own) and found this great photo and an excellent article - Most People Are Bad at Setting Goals, Here's How to Do it Right.  Although the article discusses goals in terms of employers and employees, I found it relevant to personal goals.

Here we go for May 2018:

➤ Lose five pounds.  That's doable don't you think?  Of course, if the month ends and I've lost seven, or ten, or even more, that would be brilliant but let's start with five.
➤ Read for at least thirty minutes each day.  I picked up some great books from the library and I need to have a dedicated time to enjoy them.
➤ Blog every day Monday through Saturday.  I'll be revving up some of my old memes and looking for some new ones.
➤ Take at least one photo every day.  I need to get back to my Project Life album and to do that, I need a daily photo.  Tied into this goal is the sub-goal of downloading, labeling, and filing my photos at least once a week.  Daily would be better but I'll shoot for once a week.
➤  Sort and inventory one box each day.  Moving time is coming and here in Footlocker and Toteville, I need to get these boxes organized so I know what is where.

See you in June!

Monthly Goals - July 2017

1.  Lose ten pounds

I have a head start on this since I've been sticking to a modified Whole 30/Paleo eating plan since I got home from the reunion last weekend and faithfully drinking water every day.

2.  Blog every day

This shouldn't be a problem since it's Christmas in July and that means a daily post!

3.  Leave the kitchen every night the way I want to find it the next morning

I have a bad habit of sometimes leaving whatever dishes we've used for a late evening snack in the sink until the next morning.  Not anymore!

4.  Organize one room

Several of our rooms still have totes from the move stacked up in a corner.  I'm not going to unload them, since there isn't room for the contents in this house, but they do need to be gone through.  I'm still missing three things from the move which I know are in a tote somewhere.  I managed to locate the missing mirror tile for my table centerpieces last month.  It's also a chance to dig out things that can go in the sell or donate pile.  I'm going to list a few things on Ebay and if they don't sell, I'll try taking them to the local consignment shop when they open up again after the summer.

5.  Begin a 12 Cards in 12 Months challenge

I'd love to start a 52 Letters in 52 Weeks challenge but I'm going to start with something that's a little more manageable.  In this age of whip-out-a-quick-email, I'm going to give someone a little surprise in their mailbox each month.

Do you have goals for July?
