Happy Homemaker Monday 3/27/2017

It's time for another Happy Homemaker Monday with Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom.  Click here if you'd like to join in .

The weather:::

Spring is finally here - temperatures are on the rise.

On my reading pile:::

Finally finished A Heart for Home by Lauraine Snelling and I've moved on to the next group of books in the saga, To Everything a Season, Book 1 in the Song of Blessing series.

On my TV:::

Vic and I worked our way through Band of Brothers and The Pacific - both great shows but really tough to watch at times.  We were in Saipan for the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Saipan and many of the veterans who visited the island were also visiting Iwo Jima.  I cannot imagine the emotions they must have felt, remembering fallen comrades and the horrific experiences they endured.  It's been a war-watching week as I also watched The Crimson Field although that was another series that was not renewed after Season 1 so you were left wondering what happened to the various characters.

On the menu for this week:::

There wasn't much on our dinner plates that looked anything like what was on last week's menu - we mixed and matched all kinds of things and ate out more than we should have.  This week will be better since we're going to go back on the Whole 30 eating plan - we've both been feeling the effects of not-clean-at-all eating.
Monday - Grilled Shrimp Salad
Tuesday - Beef Korma with Potatoes
Wednesday - Salmon
Thursday - Italian Pot Roast
Friday - Chicken and Sausage Bake
Saturday - Grilled Steak
Sunday - Whatever is left over!
All of the above will be served with a variety of fresh and/or roasted vegetables.  We really need to work on getting our daily veggies again.

On my to-do list:::

  • The only thing (thank goodness!) on my calendar this week is a Career Expo with local employers on Thursday
What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
My Tea Cup and Mug Exchange blog post - I received my package and my exchange partner received hers so I can put up my post without any spoilers.

Looking around the house:::

Tidy - Vic came home early on Friday because he had to work on Sunday so I spent the morning whizzing around the house à la June Cleaver to get everything out of the way.

From the camera:::

We had a wonderful day out yesterday in Williamsburg - first the Williamsburg Home Show full of ideas for our forever home, then a stroll through Colonial Williamsburg's Merchants Square to browse in the Farmer's Market and the shops, and finally, a delicious lunch at The Cheese Shop.

Something fun to share:::

Continuing on with the Declutter Challenge update:

March 20 - Photos on Computer - Again, a constant work in progress although I am getting better at labeling them and sorting them as soon as I download from my phone or the camera.

March 21 - Cell Phone Files - I keep this updated so no decluttering needed here.

March 22 - Music/DVDs - I just sorted all of the DVDs a few weeks ago and our music is all organized - no decluttering needed here, nothing to throw away, give away, or offload on Ebay.

March 23 - Kids' Clothes - nothing to do here (insert sad sniff here).

March 24 - Kids's Toys - same as above.

March 25 - Garage - Vic's got this pretty much under control although there isn't any decluttering going on.  No matter how many screwdrivers he has, he wouldn't part with one of them!

March 26 - Vehicles - Done.  My car was detailed inside and out and the only things in there are the reusable shopping bags that I take to the grocery store.  Vic's truck is ok too.

I've just realized that I'm almost at the end of the challenge.  I'm not sure how much decluttering has actually taken place, but I have gotten a whole lot unpacked, sorted, and put where it belongs which, at three months after our move, was definitely needed.

What I'm wearing today:::
Yoga pants, T-shirt, flip flops - it's going to be a warm one today.

Bible Verse, Devotional:::

One of the questions to ponder in my devotional is this one in the chapter on prayer - When have you seen or experienced a big answer to prayer in your family?  I know several of my blog friends have had big answers recently and I rejoice with them.

  1. We need to get back to eating better around here as well. I am certainly ready to be healthy again as this illness continues to linger. Hope you enjoy your week with a little less on your busy calendar!

  3. I sat down and made my To-Do list this morning. That's a bald-face lie...I put this week's date on last week's list. :) Nothing got done last week between working and knee pain. But I already have some things scratched off today, so need to keep the momentum going.

  4. This is a cute post. We are suppose to wait until Stephanie has the link up party for our Tea Cup exchange post, right? That's what I thought her last email said but perhaps I was wrong. I can't wait to see everyone's cups/mugs and goodies. Happy week!

  6. You are lucky to have warm weather. It's back to cold enough to start a fire here.

  7. You have a good week of meals planned! Sounds like you've done a lot of decluttering during the challenge and are pretty much caught up on what you need to do. Great job!
