If this is Tuesday, it must be England #64

If Sophia and I had a year off to travel to all of the horse places and horse events in the world, this would be near the top of the list, the Badminton Horse Trials (full title Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials), held this year from May 3-7 at Badminton Park in Gloucestershire.

Badminton Horse Trials is the world's premier three-day event, one of just six four-star three-day events in the world.  Four-star is the highest level in the sport of eventing and is renowned as being one of the toughest and most prestigious events known to equestrianism.  A three-day event consists of the disciplines of dressage, cross-country, and showjumping, run on different days.

On another note, and not related to horses at all since, in character, I'm sure he would have loathed them, today is the 71st birthday of David Suchet, better known as Hercule Poirot through 13 series and 70 episodes from 1989 to 2013.

Bon Anniversaire, M. Poirot

  1. We've been in England, and staying quite hear, when the Trials were going on, loads of coverage on tv. Love David Suchet, did you know that originally he auditioned for the part of the Chief Inspector, but Agatha Christie's grandson who was there said that Suchet was without a doubt Poirot.
I'm in the middle of rereading a number of Christie's mysteries.
