Life Last Week 2018-24

The weather:::
 Hot, hotter, hottest...with thunder and lightning in the forecast just about every day.  The good news is...we're a third of the way through summer.

On my reading pile:::
Still need a new photo - didn't make it to the library - I'm still working my way through Born to Rule.

On my TV:::
Still with NCIS and the Great British Baking Show on PBS!

Checked off the list:::
  • June Rudolph Day - a busy day of planning, watching a Christmas movie, inventorying decor totes and the gift closet, and blogging.  All that was missing was some snow 😉.
  • Went to a workshop - Kitchen Cabinets 101 - put on by the local woodworker's guild with Vic - it was very informative.
  • Vic received his modified orders (the set that say he's going unaccompanied) along with the letter that approves my move to Washington so I added those to our household goods application.  Next step, pre-move survey with the moving company and then we're all set.
  • Scored a uniform shirt for Vic at the local thrift store.  He has to have all new uniforms for his new assignment so finding a $44 shirt for $3 and in perfect condition was a great deal.
  • Shopped thirty-one's outlet sale and bought the cutest mini-gift totes in a Christmas pattern.  They are still available here if you are interested.
  • Scheduled the lead inspection for the rental house.
  • Picked up prescriptions at the pharmacy, went to Costco, went to the commissary, dropped off a package at UPS, and picked up a stash of goodies at the British food store.
  • Started Christmas in July - 31 days of posts on all things Christmas.  I know, I know, it's July but what better time to think ahead outside of all the busyness of the holiday season, brainstorm with other Christmas lovers, and for most of us, stay cool inside while it's scorching outside.  Christmas not your thing?  There will still be a smattering of other posts for you to enjoy.

Crafts roundup:::
Vic is still working on my vanity - he chatted with a couple of the guild members on Monday and got some great tips.

And in other news:::
I'm looking forward to a quiet week after last week!  Sophia is doing much better - she's house and dog sitting for one family, and has a short-term dog sitting job at the same time where she just checks in a few times a day, all in the same neighborhood so that's handy.  She's back to working on her schoolwork and looking forward to moving into her new apartment next month.

  2. Could you send some of your weather here? Not so much the lightning, but we haven't had measurable rain in way over 100 days and I'm ready to see some clouds!!

    1. Hot and dry here...makes me a little nervous with the 4th festivities. This area is fireworks crazy!

      I have to go back to work this week. In any free time there, I need to at least start making lists for Christmas. One of the things that I have to figure out is our tree situation. It's not very old, and it cost a fortune, but it loses at least a section of lights a year lately. Do I just add a strand over the blank spots? Do I try to take all the pre-strung lights off? I've heard that they are really hard to remove. If I ditch the whole thing, is it time to downsize? sigh...

      (deleted first comment to replace 'hear' with 'here'. LOL)

    2. I just watched a vlogger with the same issue - she cut all the old lights off the tree but it was quite an ordeal. Maybe just add a strand to cover the dead section?
