Fab-ruary Day Seven: Books You've Loved...Loved as a Child...Want to Read

I've covered the books I loved as a child here and I have to add in two more favorite series: the Little House books of Laura Ingalls Wilder and the Happy Hollisters by Jerry West.

Books I've loved...four enormous bookcases and countless trips to the library indicate how varied my tastes are.  I read a lot of non-fiction...biographies, cookbooks, how-to books, books about Christmas, books about England.  I loved the Father Christmas set of books by Robin Jones Gunn as they combined Christmas and England.  James Herriot's books are a firm favorite as are the books of Gervase Phinn, as he is the James Herriot of the education world.  And my current all-time favorites are Lauraine Snelling's Red River Series, the stories of Norwegian immigrants who settle in the Dakota Territory with all their trials and tribulations as they struggle to tame the land, build a town, and the legacy they leave for future generations.

I've always enjoyed stories of World War I, particularly if they are set in England.  The era of Upstairs, Downstairs, The Duchess of Duke Street, and Downton Abbey.  I've just put the Passing Bells series by Phillip Rock on my Amazon wish list.  As I was searching for a photo of the books in the series, I found that an older edition of the first book has a remarkably familiar cover.  Perhaps I've read the books before?  I guess I'll find out.  I also found that the book was a BBC One series, wonder if I can find a DVD copy?
