My Kindle is an extension of my bookshelves. I prefer to read an actual book but the Kindle comes in handy for travel or to have available in my purse when I end up sitting in a waiting room. I tend to download free books from Amazon if the genre takes my fancy but I have also purchased some books.
Currently, I'm working my way through the Tasha Alexander Lady Emily historical mystery series (Book One shown below). It's light and easy to read, very enjoyable. I highly recommend it.
I am also a hard bound book fan... But Kindle is catching up fast with next generation. A cousin, who is a librarian by profession and a freelance, fine writer was gifted a Kindle on her 50th birthday, last December. To begin with she was not so very keen on using it. But now a days I hear from her, as to how good Kindle is!

Nice lil post Pamela. I too am a Kindle fan and it does feel great to carry an entire library with you in such a portable form :)
ReplyDeleteI like reading "real" books, but I have the Kindle app on my phone for travel. It certainly beats packing the extra weight of books, huh!

Like Trudy above, i enjoy using my Kindle app for traveling or in meetings where i dont want to carry a book. I have shelves and shelves packed with the real books though. I love them all.
ReplyDeleteI love my kindle as you'll see if you read my post for the a to z challenge. K is for Kindle and KDP as you Build a Better Blog. #AtoZchallenge.
ReplyDeleteI also prefer a "real" book, but the Kindle is so easy for travel. I check out e-books from the library. Then I put it in airplane mode so I don't have a deadline for finishing. (It still returns them on time.}
ReplyDeleteYou are so tech-savvy! I'm still in the reading-a-physical-book era. Have been enjoying seeing the wide range of books that you've found that tie into your theme!
ReplyDeleteI love my Kindle. Tanya's airplane mode hint above is my favorite thing about it...I use it all the time...actually I turn off the wifi. I have read that the newer Kindles that trick doesn't work, though I don't know that firsthand. My other favorite thing about it is that I can stick it in a Ziplock bag and take it in the bath with me. I love to read in the bath, and it's so much easier with the Ziplocked Kindle than it is with a ink-and-paper book.
ReplyDeleteKindle is awesome! A boon for book lovers. :)
