Happy Homemaker Monday 7/10/2017

It's time for another Happy Homemaker Monday with Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom.  Click here if you'd like to join in .

The weather:::

Another gloriously (not!) hot, humid, and thunderstorming week.

On my reading pile:::
Still working on Dear Bob and Sue, almost finished, about ten pages to go.

On my TV:::
Thinking about starting Suits, I hear good reviews on it.

On the menu for this week:::

Monday - Haven't decided yet
Tuesday - Vic's 23rd Navy Anniversary Spanish-themed Celebration - Pollo al Chilindron, Basmati Rice, Steamed Green Beans
Wednesday - Grilled Shrimp, Salad
Thursday - Leftovers
Friday - Steak, Baked Potatoes, Sauteed Mushrooms

On my to-do list:::

  • Charities turnover this morning - I'm taking over as the new Charities Chairperson for our spouses' group
  • Make floral arrangement in the colors of the Spanish flag, chop all the vegetables for tomorrow's dinner, read through the main dish and dessert recipes one more time
  • Pharmacy run to pick up prescription refill
  • Spouses' group board meeting; Vic's 23rd Navy Anniversary Spanish-themed Celebration in the evening
  • Take the Subaru to be serviced
  • Lunch with a friend
  • Figure out what to give my nephew for his birthday and get that sorted

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Scrapbooking table is set up and ready for me to sit down and work on my current project, Vic's Career Album - I didn't work on it at all last week so I hoping to do so this week, same as last week.

Looking around the house:::

One load of laundry to do.

From the camera:::

Saturday Breakfast - Vic and I yelped a breakfast spot and came up with the Handsome Biscuit, kind of a hole in the wall independent little place with a unique menu and delicious food - this is the Dill Na Na biscuit, sweet potato biscuit with an egg and potato frittata slice, arugula, and creamy dill sauce, it was amazing!

Something fun to share:::

Not something fun this morning but a head-up, don't waste your money on seeing The Mummy, not even the couple of dollars it costs at Redbox - it was the worst movie I've seen in a long time.  I'm amazed that Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe agreed to such a ridiculous story line.

What I'm wearing today:::
Navy and white pants, navy T-shirt, flip flops.

Bible Verse, Devotional, Quote:::

I really have to remind myself to do this - I'm having such a hard time here in Virginia this time around - I loathe just about everything about this place but then I remember that it's just a season in my life and this too shall pass.

  2. I did a career album for hubby when he retired and he took it to a reunion last month - it was a BIG hit!

    Thanks for the heads up on The Mummy. I'll take the Brandan Frasier Mummy :D

    Have a GREAT week.

    1. Even worse, they left us on quite a cliffhanger so I know there's going to be a Tom Cruise Mummy 2 - groan....

  3. That breakfast looks simply amazing!

    So sorry that you are struggling with being in Virginia again. It might help to consider the apostle Paul's words from Philippians:"I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." (Phil. 4:11) Of course Paul wasn't speaking about one of the fifty states, but of his circumstances. When I read his words it always makes me think about blooming where we are planted. To me, one of the most encouraging things about that verse is that it implies contentment can be learned. Just a thought, hope it helps. You're right -- this time is only for a season and it will eventually end.

    1. Yes, I pray that verse often. It's a combination of the wretched weather, the lack of a job after leaving such a fabulous one, Sophia being so far away, and the network of friends and co-volunteer workers has changed dramatically (as to be expected in the military). I am happy to be here with Vic though so I'll just deal with the rest. Thank you for the encouragement.

  7. The Spanish themed anniversary sounds amazing. You know you're not the first to say that the new mummy movie was not good, I don't think I'll want to watch it, so thank you for the heads up :)

    Hope you have a fantastic week.
