Life Last Week 2018-20

The weather:::
 High 70s to high 80s all week but no thunderstorms.  We had our fair share last week.

On my reading pile:::
Still working my way through A Woman of Substance by Barbara Taylor Bradford and picked up Book 4 in the Cavendon series.  Also rereading Bill Bryson's Notes from a Small Island off and on.

On my TV:::
Still with NCIS.

Checked off the list:::
  • A rarity in this house - Vic was home all week!
  • Inventory at the gift shop.
  • Haircut - it's a bit shorter than usual and I like it, feels very summery.
  • Command picnic - hot, humid, charcoal smoke, bugs, cold shower, nap...in that order.
An uninvited guest at the picnic - there was three of us on the clean-up crew - I left to move my car and the other two carried two bags of trash to the dumpster, leaving a foil-wrapped tray of bread rolls on the table.  The moment they walked away, this guy shot down the tree and onto the table, shredding the foil in his attempt to snatch a bread roll

Crafts roundup:::
Vic's decorative nails arrived so he's been working on the arms of the loveseat.  I figured out there are ten steps to making my Christmas in July swap ornaments and I'm on step seven.

And in other news:::
We're now on our third septic system installer for the Rhode Island house.  Installer #1 had health issues and is out of the business, #2's equipment is too large to fit through the access to our backyard, and so we're on to #3.  More bad news, he's pretty sure the cost is going to exceed what the state is willing to lend us (at a super low interest rate) so we have to unravel the purse strings and pay the difference.  Not looking forward to getting his proposal.

  1. The septic system sounds like a huge pain! Sorry about that and the smoky, hot picnic too! But glad Vic was home all week!

  2. I am so happy that when we built our home, the town already had a hook up to the sewer for this lot! I'd previously had septic system on our farm. Enough said, it was a pain. Love your little guy in the tree! My sister has an entire family that lives in her yard. She uses her night CAM to get their adorable pictures.
    I'm growing out my hair, and it has now reached the point of covering up my spinal scar on the back of my neck.
    Have a great day!!!

  3. I didn't realize you have a home in Rhode Island, I imagine it's very pretty there. Another busy week in your life, thanks for sharing with us!
