Wow, what a weekend! I took Friday off and lined up a whole host of service appointments which went without a hitch - my hero, the pest control man, removed the dead mouse from the garage and showed me how to take care of the mousetrap just in case another little visitor comes by (seriously hope not!); the alarm technician took care of the one sensor that wasn't registering properly; the appliance repair company representative came by to take away the old washer and dryer that came with the house (they will most likely fix them and resell them and that's fine with me because their removal service cost less than renting a lift to get it into Vic's truck to transport it to the recycling center where there would have been another $40 charge to dispose of them); and finally, the heating service guy came out to give us an estimate for a new heating system. We don't really need a new heating system right now but Costco has a great deal so I thought I'd get an estimate to see what we're dealing with when the time comes.
Sophia and Spectra arrived on Friday afternoon and we got to work in the garage. We moved the remaining totes to a more accessible location so I can continue to go through them, piled up all the furniture in the middle of the garage (I called a charity to come and pick it all up but they are booked until September), and Sophia started to organize the things that she will take to a local consignment shop. It was a busy afternoon. We finished off the day with fish and chips and mushy peas and a DVD of the TV show, Pan Am.
Slowly getting organized in the garage |
We hit the road on Saturday morning - dropped Vic's discontinued uniform parka off for the Sea Cadets, dropped my wooden slats off with someone who will do some Cricut vinyl work for me, went to the bank and to the Navy Exchange and then headed up to Poulsbo, the charming Norwegian town that has a great main street and the area's BEST bakery.
A box for supplies later, we picked up my finished wooden slats and then headed to sushi for lunch and a browse around Barnes & Noble and World Market. Sophia cleaned her car while I worked in the office and then it was steak with chips and gravy and more Pan Am in the evening.
We lazed around on Sunday morning and then it was time for Sophia and Spectra to hit the road for home. There was a slight delay for the ferry with all the summer traffic but she was finally underway and texted when she got home.
Bye, darlings, see you again soon! |
Vic, meanwhile, has been exploring his local area and found the Okinawan equivalent of Home Depot!
As well as some recreation.
And that's a wrap for our weekend. Back to work tomorrow with not a lot else on the agenda during the week. I'm continuing on with the decluttering and will no doubt have a carload to take to the Goodwill on Saturday.
Have a great week!
