If this is Tuesday, it must be England #146

There have been many changes in the British Royal Family since I last put up an "If this is Tuesday, it must be England" post in November 2021.  At that time, I commented on the absence of the Queen from the National Service of Remembrance, a ceremony that was dear to her heart.  Her Majesty missed several of the events of her Platinum Jubilee in the summer of  2022 due to various health issues, when it was almost unheard of for her to bow out of an engagement unless it was a serious issue.  At 96 years of age, I'm sure her family, and members of the public, were very concerned.  As we would see, things would escalate rather quickly.

One of the most poignant photographs is the last photograph of her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, taken at Balmoral when she received the new British Prime Minister Liz Truss on September 6, 2022, just two days before she died.  Dressed in a tartan skirt, blouse, and cardigan (as many photos over the years have shown, an outfit such as this was a Balmoral staple), wearing pearls and her handbag over her arm, she looked lovely.

, She also looked very frail, but she was smiling, always smiling.  I'm sure the Prime Minister will never forget this moment or the days that followed.

  1. I do love that she was always smiling! She always had such style too.
