B is for Bainbridge Island

B is for Bainbridge Island, a city in Kitsap County and the name of the island in Puget Sound on which the city is situated.  The City of Bainbridge Island has occupied the entire island since 1991, when the former 1.5 square mile City of Winslow annexed the rest of the island and it was officially renamed the City of Bainbridge Island.  A bedroom community of Seattle, there is ferry service between the two and Bainbridge Island offers great shopping, dining, art galleries, wineries, and museums, as well as beaches, parks, trails, boat rentals, and water sports. Preserving green space is paramount and there is tight control over development.

My favorite event held on Bainbridge Island is the annual Christmas in the Country tour of homes, farms, and cottages featuring the arts and crafts of a variety of artisans.  It's the ideal place to pick up the perfect Christmas gift.

  4. Oh, what a wonderful place to be stationed! I live in the Pacific Northwest also (suburb of Portland) and you are right, the climate is very like England.

From one Anglophile to another, happy A to Z!
