Hello Monday - October 16, 2023

I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah this morning for Hello Monday and a weekend recap.

Poor Malone!  He had such a week with the vet last week.  He was due for vaccinations and a blood draw for a heartworm test which was attempted last Monday.  He's terrified of needles so Monday was a bust.  The vet sent us home with sedatives and a new appointment for the following afternoon.  He took the sedatives well and seemed to be pretty calm but when we got to the vet and walked down the hallway to our exam room, the blinds were drawn up in the room before ours where Malone spotted the dog inside and went crazy. So much for sedatives, being calm was out the window.  Attempt number three came on Friday morning.  Sedatives the night before, another dose in the morning and with Vic and another vet tech holding on to him, and a muzzle, the second tech was able to administer the vaccinations and get a blood draw.  Poor guy, I hated the whole process for him.

Once the ordeal was over, we came home and he slept all day, ate dinner, and slept again while Vic and I were watching a movie that evening.

While Malone was sleeping the day away on Friday, I watched the third episode of The Great British Baking Show - Bread and got ready for a Zoom chat with my friend Jodie.  We're doing December Daily together this year - haven't quite got the logistics pinned down but we're both doing the project and we plan to have Zoom chats while we're working, frequency TBD.  If you're not familiar with December Daily, it's a memory keeping project, the brainchild of Ali Edwards, documenting one story a day in the month of December.  Ali's shop has everything you could possibly need, in physical form or digital, plus classes as well as blog posts as she works on her album.  Jodie and I both signed up for the Hybrid Product Play class, hybrid scrapbooking combines digital products with physical supplies.  The class debuted on Friday so we were going to tune in (it's self-paced) and then chat about our impressions.

It was turning into a busy Friday and it wasn't over yet.  Vic came home from work and we got ready and headed out to the wedding of one of my former co-workers.  The wedding ceremony was held earlier in the day and this was the I Do! BBQ.  It was a shame that the rain started just as the guests were arriving but we were under tents so stayed dry.  There were several of my former co-workers there as well so it was lovely to see them.

The table decorations were lovely for a fall wedding.

The invitation said semi-formal attire and we were probably the two most overdressed guests!

If Friday wasn't crazy busy, Saturday was even busier.  We were going up to Sophia's on Sunday and planned to take two shelving units from the garage to her.  Vic emptied them on Saturday, moving what was on them to another part of the garage, and generally giving the garage a clean-out.  Then he vacuumed the bed of his truck and loaded the shelving units and everything else that was headed to Sophia's.  It was quite a puzzle to get everything in.

Meanwhile, I ran errands - dropped a trunkload at the charity shop, picked up some pumpkin spice cider at Total Wine for Sophia (her store was all out), hit up Home Goods (can't believe I walked out of there empty-handed!), then it was off to Target.  Next on the list was to pick up my last two 2023 ornaments at Hallmark and go next door to Safeway for a pack of madeleines for our trip to Sophia's.  They make a great breakfast on the ferry and an easy snack.  Off to Costco for gas and then a stop at Trader Joe's.  I stopped at the commissary last as I needed a few frozen items and then headed home.  After a quick late lunch, I ran out again to Staples and then to the library to drop off and pick up a book.  Whew!  What a list.

Christmas is coming to Home Goods

Stopped at Staples to have this laminated - it will be one of my stories in my December Daily

We didn't get up quite as early as we'd planned on Sunday but we finally got moving and headed out with Malone to make the drive to Sophia's.

Malone did great in the truck and on the ferry.

And that was our weekend...thank goodness for a quiet week ahead!

  2. Poor Malone! I feel so bad that the vet is so traumatic for him! I'm glad he did well on the ferry ride. I love the picture of y'all at the wedding. I guess semi-formal doesn't mean what it used to...ha, ha. I would have thought semi-formal meant something like a very nice dress or even cocktail dress! I have been under the weather, and can't wait to go check out Home Goods for the Christmas decor!
