Wednesday Hodgepodge - Volume 274

1.  Pokemon Go...your thoughts?  Are you playing?  Do you even know what it is?

My thoughts...a total waste of time.  Sorry, that's harsh but I just don't have time for these electronic games.  I suppose, however, that it is getting people, especially young people, out of the house and moving around.  What's sad, though, is that they are walking around staring down at their phones.  I guess you can figure out that when I get down off my soap box, I am not playing.

2.  What was something you collected as a child?  Do you still have that collection?  If you're a parent what's something your own children collected?  Have you ever camped out, stood in a crazy long queue, or paid a ridiculous sum for a "collectible"?

I collected Ladybird books, especially the history series.

Sadly, I don't have the collection any longer.  My daughter collected Playmobil figures and we still have several of the Christmas Advent calendars they make every year.  I can't recall ever camping out, standing in a crazy long queue, or paying a ridiculous sum for a collectible but I have gotten into some fierce bidding wars on Ebay for toys I had as a child that are now collectibles.  Word to the wise...save those toys!

3.  "Collect moments, not things"...tell us about a moment you've added to your collection this summer.

I haven't added it yet but it will be soon.  The moment I see my husband among the thousands of sailors on homecoming day will be treasured forever.

4.  What's something collecting dust in your home right now?  Any plans to do something about it?

When Sophia and I had an American Girls' Club in Virginia, I bought the bookends that featured each of the original eight girls.  Their design is a mega-dustcatcher and they are displayed on a shelf in the living room.  I plan to put them behind glass as soon as I find the right cabinet.

5.  A favorite song relating to time?

Sarah Brightman's "Time to Say Goodbye" with Andrea Bocelli.

6.  What's been your most frightening or your most interesting encounter with wildlife?

Other than geckos that scurried around our house on Saipan, I can't really think of any encounters with wildlife...oh, wait, there was the time MudLynn chased a skunk and then the skunk decided it didn't want to be chased and just stood its ground, spraying MudLynn.  She learned not to chase skunks after that episode!

7.  On July 20, 1969 Apollo 11 Commander Neil Armstrong set his foot down on the moon.  If you could travel to the moon would you go?  Why or why not?

I'm not really crazy about flying so spending several days (or is it weeks?) in a space capsule does not appeal to me at all.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I'm not saying we should all sing and dance on city streets but maybe if our hands were raised in praise, they might not be raised in anger.

  2. Precious moments, I remember when Mr BC came home in 1967, after 9 months, when we got married. We went to Key West, Fl for some shore duty, after the wedding.
