If this is Tuesday, it must be England #18

Alnwick Castle is the second largest inhabited castle in England, and has been the home of the Percys, Earls and Dukes of Northumberland since 1309. Alnwick Castle has been used as a setting in many films and television series including three of the Harry Potter films.

Of special note for Downton Abbey fans, step behind the scenes of the filming, with costumes, photography, and props from the 2014 Christmas special, which was filmed at Alnwick Castle

The castle lies just off the A1 in the historic market town of Alnwick. There is no shortage of things to see and do at Alnwick. Tour the castle and grounds, visit the garden, have tea in the Courtyard Cafe. There is a host of workshops and other activities for children. If you want to stay a little longer, check out the Alnwick Castle Cottages for your next holiday.

In 2015, Alnwick Castle is open to the public from March 27 to November 1 (closed July 25 for a private event).
