Poldark is coming to PBS this weekend - I have mixed emotions, can anyone ever match Robin Ellis and Angharad Rees? UK friends, did you watch it? What did you think?
I watched it and really enjoyed it. I never saw the original so I had nothing to compare it too. My fiends who have had mixed feelings. They enjoyed the story but did not like the new actors, however they are all looking forward to the next season. Lu xx
The original is wonderful - I think it's on Netflix. It's a bit dated since it's from the 1970s but the chemistry between the actors is amazing. Robin Ellis and Angharad Rees were amazing; Jud and Prudie were not to be believed at times and I always felt like Francis and Elizabeth needed a good shaking. George Warleggan was just evil. Dr. Eny's diagnosis of the "morbid sore throat" is a staple in this household - every time someone has a cough, it's "Oh no, you're getting the morbid sore throat" and we use a lot of the Vicar of Dibley's Owen Newitt's "a worrying feeling in my colon" as well!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Lulu. I think I'm a bit stuck in the era of the original but I'll give this one a look - love the story and the Cornish scenery is amazing.
DeleteI've never seen the original, so I will definitely be watching this! Thanks for calling my attention to it.
ReplyDeleteI did watch the first episode, but didn't enjoy it, I'm afraid. Be interested to hear what you think of it, Pamela.
ReplyDeleteDid you watch the original?
DeleteNo, I hadn't heard of it until the remake appeared!
